I want to flash a new vbios for my two 780m. And so, I've created a UEFI bootable usb stick using Rufus (FreeDOS files, FAT32, MBR for Bios/UEFI partitioning scheme). Next, I've discovered that my AW 18 doesn't have any USB boot option available. I've tried disabling secure and fast boots, all I get besides from windows boot is network. Is there any way I can boot from the usb? Thanks!

To flash BIOS, you have to enable CMS and boot through the USB NOT UEFI only

It should also be formatted as FAT32

Thanks, where do i enable CMS?

    Here's what i've selected in Rufus: http://imgur.com/DoMf9DB

Edit: oh, it's CSM. CSM == Legacy? Wouldn't that mess up with my HDD which is formatted for UEFI?

    1) Rufus never worked for me to get the proper boot disk

Use: Windows 98 USB Boot Disk

First install the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool then when you load the tool guide it to where the boot files are which you extracted from the ZIP: win98boot

    2) It's been 2 years since I've seen an Alienware BIOS, I think if you simply disable UEFI that should enable CMS/legacy boot automatically, check in the last sub menu = BOOT menu or I hope other Alienware users can chime in

    3) Once you're done flashing, enable UEFI again

Going to do this. I did try to use HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool, but it can't finish the formatting process. It basically makes my USB stick not usable until after i allocate a new volume on it with diskmgmt windows tool.

Strange, it always worked for me, try again bro
If all fails, I can make an image of my USB Flash Disk using ImageUSB then upload the image for you to flash it onto your USB stick

I tried and i couldn't... I found some image of a bootable usb, rufus is not able to recognize it. HP tool fails to format my USB stick (32 GB kingston) no matter what. I would be grateful if you could give me your image to use it with Rufus. Thanks!

Unless there is that option available in the UEFI bios you will not be able to use a USB boot that wasn't formatted in Win10.

Uploading image now so I'll post the link tomorrow

you will need ImageUSB to burn the image onto a 4GB USB Stick formatted as FAT32

After burning the image to the USB Flash Disk, you need to disable UEFI in BIOS in order to boot into it otherwise it won't work in UEFI or if you can't fully disable UEFI, at least you should find an option to enable legacy boot or CSM

Here is the download link, flash it onto the USB. You will notice the USB root is empty, don't worry, juts put your BIOS Flashing files there. The Boot files are hidden in the USB that's why it appears empty
