I just completed a clean intall of Windows Vista Home Premium. Now when I connect my Western Digital HDD through the USB it doesn't show up in the safely remove harddrive options( ie when I want to take it out).

I'm using a lenovo t61p laptop, and did the clean install using the Windows Anytime Upgrade DVD made using vLite. I have installed all the drivers in the SWTOOLS folder that was present in the original installation, as far as I know.

The HDD is recognised correctly and I am able to read / copy data with no issues, but I can't seem to remove safely. Some help please ?

In Vista you don't need to do the safely remove hardware step. Just take it off. If you try any USB flash drive, you'll see the same thing.
