    Hi there

I'm currently only using the Windows firewall on my notebook and I was wondering if there is an absolutely free, no registration required, no payment to activate because its a trial version or needs to be registered firewall out there?

I'm only using Windows firewall because I'm hooked up to the office LAN which has a pretty good firewall already but when I go out and about in the world, which I'm intending to do I will need a personal firewall so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Zone Alarm is a great free firewall.

Outpost Pro is also a good choice.

I'm using Zone Alarm. It's worked great in the past, but on this install it seems to have some trouble loading pages the first time around. Maybe I'll have a look at this Outpost Pro.

    Cool thanx for that.

On another problem - I've had StopZilla installed and I've got AVG spyware and AVG 7.5 virus protection installed, I've also got Windows Defender and I've run another couple of spyware/adware remover programs.

All the while Stopzilla was installed it kept telling me I had Vundo and another malware on my C drive, I've been through the registry and taken out the components, I've used regseeker to clean the registry and I've run all the above mentioned protection/detection/removal programs again - none of them found anything and Stopzilla still insists that the malware/adware are still present, there is absolutely nothing in the registry relating to them (stopzilla tells you where the components are so you can go look for them) and the parts that were showing as being on the hard drive aren't there either.

Should I be worried - I've run 4 anti-virus/spyware/adware programs and they've all come up with nothing, Stopzilla is the only one that is finding something that isn't physically there?

In case anyone needs to know my stopzilla isn't registered/paid for its the trial version.

Cheers for the advice on the firewall, I hope someone can advise me on the Stopzilla problem.

Try grabbing SpywareTerminator for your adware/spyware problems. It's one of the best freeware solutions for that nowadays.

And I second hehe299792458's recommendation of Comodo as a firewall option.

Cool thanks for the link. The program doesn't find anything but Stopzilla is still apparently finding the Vudo trojan adware virus?

Don't get why I've gone through the registry 3 or 4 times now and there's nothing because I've taken it all out.

Still I've now got 2 firewalls and 3 anti-spyware/virus programmes keeping my laptop secure so I shouldn't have any problems and there's nothing untoward going on either as far as I can tell.

    Cheers for the advice :)
