Hi guys. I just got a Logitech V550 notebook mouse for my laptop but I've got a problem. My current pointer sensitivity (for the trackpoint/nipple) is perfect. I'm quick with it and it's all good.

But with the mouse, it's far too high compared to my desktop mouse (a corded Razer Copperhead). But if I lower the pointer speed, it will ruin the trackpoint as well.

What can I do to set their sensitivities independently? Installing the software that comes with the mouse is an option I'd like to avoid - SetPoint is all bloat and I try to keep my old laptop running light (768MB RAM..)

    Thanks.

I have the same problem with my laptop. I use a bluetooth mouse at home and the trackpad on the go. I have yet to figure out a solution.

i tried many different methods and unfortunately, you need an extra program to separate the mouse from the trackpad settings

the best method is to use setpoint

decrease (adjust) your mouse speed in setpoint to a comfortable level
    restart your computer
then go into control panel and adjust the "mouse speed" there, which will only affect your trackpad speed

you will then have 2 different settings for the mouse + trackpad

however, everytime you restart, the trackpad will use setpoint's "slow" setting.. so, this is only for people who don't restart their computers much + don't mind adjusting control panel's mouse settings for their trackpad every time the computer restarts

i went through many different programs.. from x-mouse button to mouse-switcher (or something like that), none of them work and the above method is the best.. especially since you can customize what the buttons do in setpoint

    I have Thinkpad X61T TrackPoint w/TrackPoint utility
    + MX Revolution w/ SetPoint.

SetPoint works independently from TrackPoint utility. I set TrackPoint sensitivity as highest and MX Rev's around 30%. They all persisted I don't have to mess with them anymore no matter how many time I restart or sleep or hibernate/resume.

This combination works great for me. Hope this help!
