There is no Aero option. its not there anymore- i didnt change any settings either...

did you change gpu drivers?

Try rerunning the Windows Experience Index. This may allow you to re enable aero. (It worked for me once)

Re-install your video drivers if it doesn't work. That shoud fix it.

nope, didnt work
ill try the video drivers -
Just curious, does Vista run much better with Aero off? I'm getting a bit tired of the eye candy, so thinking of turning it off.

no really in my perspective. its about the same

Set the color to 32bit in the resolution settings, some apps seem to set it to 16bit and you need to have 32bit for aero
-
Go to Control Panel > Sys & Maint > Performance Info & Tools > Adjust Visual Effects > Custom
Turn off "Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing". Now you won't have to wait for windows to fade in and out. That's the only setting that seems to make a noticeable difference for me. And it lets you keep most of Aero's nice visuals. -
try and do a system restore

Download and open WinBubble. In the Optimization Tab Choose the second option to turn on Aero. If that doesn't work. Choose the third Option and Choose Windows Aero. Hope this solves your problem.

Swear that u didnt mess with your registry?
Open up registry... type 'regedit' in run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > DWM registry key.
Composition and Composition Policy are the two registry keys inside the DWM directory that you will need to edit. Set Composition to 1 and Composition Policy to 2.
If they are already 1 & 2 ..let me know -
check "Desktop Windows Manager" in Services !
-
Video to 32bit. Theme to Vista.

I'm having the exact problem described here. I've done everything that has been suggested but I still can't turn on Aero, it's not on the Scheme options.
