I find it annoying to always have to click both touchpad keys on my laptop to open tabs in firefox. Is there a way to designate a keyboard shortcut for opening tabs in firefox?
    Thanks!

Just use Ctrl+T (since I don't think there's an option for what you want to to), it's just as fast plus you don't run the risk of opening tabs when you don't want to.

Get TabMixPlus addon, and you can configure it so that when you click certain types of links, it opens a new tab. For instance. When I search in google, a regular left click opens a new tab for me, so I preserve my search tab.

2 other ways I can think of :

    • hold down Ctrl key when clicking on the link
    • use the MouseGestures addon to program a mouse gsture to open the link in a new tab

use this firefox extension - super drag and go
with this you can just drag a link slightly and leave it and the link will open in a new tab ... its awesome

Ctrl-click is what you're looking for.
