Nothing is more annoying then my screen flashing the abyss at me for a split of a second everytime UAC security is activated. What UAC does is dim down the background to highlight the message box that u have to click allow or disallow on. This does not bother me. What does bother me is the black flash that happens right before every change in dimness (meaning both when it pops up, and when i click OK).

A few things I have noticed. After installing new drivers (im using the newest 169.21) it works perfectly for the first UAC dialog box without flashing, aftewards it goes back to that annoying split second screen of blackness everytime the UAC comes on. Also with using the default drivers on windows(whatever is installed when I havent installed Nvidia Drivers) the issue seems to consistantly go away completely.

Does anyone have any thoughts to fix this problem? Or just comments in general...

    Please help,
    Thanks,
    Michael

nah, id rather keep the uac screen since its not the box that really bothers me and i find comfort in the security it gives. But hanks for the link anyway just incaes I want to get rid ofit in the future.

But it REALLY does more than just that. By taking you out of dimmed screen, the desktop is now exposed to whatever you are granting access. That dimed screen, is actually a dimmed snapshot of your desktop and is a background screen. Doing this tweak, actually esposes your system a bit to potential damage by nefarious code or hackers. It is a MINOR exposure, but an exposure nonetheless.

Yes, thanks scuderia for clarifying that. I want to keep ALL the security of the UAC. Its just the black flash that is annoying me, not necessarily the dimmed screen. And I'm almost positive the black flash is not part of the UAC in itself.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I experienced a magnificent second. The UAC dialog popped up as I was deleting a folder from the program files and the screen dimmed, a noise alerted me, and to my astonished suprise there was NO black flash. Of course after I clicked ok it happened again, lasting slightly longer than normal. But still! It was an amazing feeling :D

lol. it's basically switching to a different desktop, pretty much the same as when you switch user, and because applications can't access across desktop boundaries, the bad app doesn't mess up your other apps.
