Hi (I hope this is the right place to post this),

I recently purchased the Dell XPS M1530 and I <3 it. But I was irked by the permissions system. I understand that Microsoft has it to protect the system, but anyways, I went and changed all the ownerships to my own account. I think that was a mistake on my part. Is there any way to reverse that?

Also, since I did that, I can't access the task manager. When I do CTRL + ALT + DEL, it shows just

    Lock this computer
    Switch User
    Log Off
    Change a password....

Also, when I right+click the start menu bar, the Task Manager is grayed out and I can't access it.

Can that be fixed without doing anything drastic? :/

    Thanks

Shift-Ctrl-Esc brings up task manager... but it probably won't work if you have it greyed out on the start menu.

Or: Start -> type "taskmgr" [Enter]
See if it shows you an error. You can also try running "taskmgr" from a console window to see what the error is.

As far as "ownerships"... you mean you changed all files on the whole disk to be owned by you? Or what? If so, I think System Restore would be the way I would undo that. (You generally shouldn't need to mess with directories where you don't have permissions.)
