Well I am trying to disable system restore from creating restore points automatically but when i try to uncheck the box, it says that it "Configuration is disabled by Group policy".

Also I could not create restore points manuaaly.

Can somebody please tell me what to do.

    Thanks

Maybe I think it is because of Service pack 1 because when I tried the first time without SP1 it worked

    Thanks for trying

That might be the cause, but i don't want to blame things that might be irrelevant.

Disabling System Restore won't speed up your computer. Well, it might make updates and installations go a little faster, since it won't have to make restore points... but it won't speed anything up in general use. It should save disk space though.

Still, I don't know why it's not letting you disable it.

EDIT: Uh, ok, this appears to be a more precise answer about whether/how it affects performance:
    http://blogs.technet.com/filecab/pages/447166.aspx
(VSS = Volume Shadow copy Service)
But I could see how maybe in Premium, VSS might not ever run if System Restore is disabled. I'm just speculating though....
