Wow, NBR: it has really been a while. I really missed you guys, been away from the PC world. I actually popped in a few times and thought I mispelled the address or something. I'm not too fond of the new look. It's awesome, I just need to get used to it.

Anyway, I recently downgraded my wife's laptop to XPP using the included disks on a ASUS N10J. Now I get this window, every time I boot. I googled around and found some advice on returing the machine to have the company reinstall the OS. Some people suggested a fresh install. I really don't have the energy to do neither. Any other way to fix this problem?

NBR have never let me down and I'm sure I'll find an answer. :D

    Thanks! ;)

hm that's sysprep. no clue right now how to get rid of it, though. (but i would've suggested to continue to use vista anyways).

there's nothing in the autoruns about a sysprep.exe?

you could always move back and solve all the hazzles. that was what i ment.

but anyways, as i said, check if you have some autorun entry that has to be removed and look if that fixes it.

for getting all autorun entries, go into explorer (not internet explorer) and type \\live.sysinternals.com and there grab autoruns. when autorun started, search for all startup entries that are called "sysprep.exe" and disable them.

and then restart and pray that this fixes your specific problem (and xp still works stable)

I got that once, you need to re-install XP. I got that on my Sony laptop, it was due to me removing programs and installing others before it finished installing the ones included with the restore discs.

Have you tried resealing and using mini-setup?
