I just got an E1505 without CDs. I reformatted my hard drive to install XP Pro. I forgot to check before hand...but should the laptop come with Sonic MyDVD in addition to Sonic Record now, or just Record now?

They're all on one Sonic disc I believe...anyway, I only had one disc and both are on my computer now.

There are two different software: Sonic Record (burning software) and Cyberlink PowerDVD (dvd player/encoder). You'll have to call dell and request which ever disc you need, but they'll ship it to you free and you'll generally receive it in 2 business days or less.

Cyberlink PowerDVD is for your dvd playback - required if you want to watch DVDs. You can use another program, but you have to have a DVD decoder, and Cyberlink is standard on Dells.

Sonic Record is like Nero - it will pretty much burn anything that you need, but it is a personal preference as with Cyberlink.

Not sure about the Sonic MyDVD. Judging from their site, it is like you described. A way to edit videos, pictures, slideshows, etc.
