Hello, I am trying to install Solidworks 2009 on my Vostro 1500 with Vista Ultimate x64 on it. I was able to get solidworks all the way installed but whenever i click on the solidworks icon to open it up it says "SldWorks has stopped working" Im not sure what is causing this error. I though a .net framework might be a culprit but ive tried the .net frame work 3.5 and it didnt seem to fix the problem. Am i installing the wrong one? If so could someone provide a link to the one i need? My friend was able to install it on his desktop with no problems. Does anyone have any suggestions?

From what i know, solidworks works on 32bit vista or 64bit xp. Does your software box say it works on 64bit vista?

For an expensive and specialized piece of software such as SolidWorks you should be entitled to customer support from Dassault. Especially considering that SW09 was only released a few weeks ago.

No i have yet to fix it. Im starting to wonder if it is a driver issue with my model laptop since dell doesnt necessarily support vista x64 on the vostro 1500

i had the same problem of having the sldworks has stopped working when clicking on the start icon. the way we fixed it was by going to the video card manufacturers website and downloading the latest 64-bit driver for the video card.
