Intel ProSet/Wireless adapters comes with software to view the speed in Mbps of the transmit / receive packets coming and going through your network. Is there other software that I can download for this same purpose?

Well, why do you need to monitor it anyway? well you can always just click double click on your network icon in the system tray and view the network transmition.

i'm getting confused between the topic headline and the actual first post.

are you trying to view the contents of the packets as in what a sniffer does or are you trying to find your up/download speeds?

    please clarify.

Just the upload and download speeds, not the contents.

Try Net Limiter, you can cap your DL/UL limit and check out their speeds as well

you can use samurize to view up and download speeds. as well, how you view them is completely customizable; simple text, graph, progress bar, etc.

see attached screencap for example. i'm currently working on a new setup so i dont have too many meters running; the up/download speeds are the 3rd meter down on the upper left

Windows Task Manager also has lots of network stats you can look at. Just give the Three Finger Salute and check it out!
