some of you may have known that i lost everything on my hard drive, and all my music is on my ipod only. well, i re downloaded iTunes and got ipod copy expert to try and get it back.

but when i plug in my ipod, i see that it starts charging. also, the computer makes a sound to acknowledge that it has been plugged in. but, i cannot find my ipod anywhere, not in computer, itunes, nor my ipod copy expert.

so how do i get my computer to recognize my ipod again??

    THANKS!!!

iTunes is designed so that you can only transfer stuff onto external devices(like iPods), and you cannot transfer from an iPod onto a computer with iTunes. You need a 3rd party program in order to do so.

yes, i know... thats what ipod copy expert is.

but when i plug in my ipod to my computer, the only thing it does is open up itunes, which tells me to sync it and lose everything.

it wont show up as a removable storage device in computer.

Download this program. Plug in your iPod and run the program. When iTunes tries to open close it. Then just copy everything back to your computer.
    Hope that helps,
    Tim

i downloaded that tim, but heres my problem:

all that happens when i plug in my ipod, is it loads itunes. my ipod isint in located as a hard drive, and no other program recognizes that my ipod is plugged in, even when i quit itunes, the 3rd party software all says to plug it in.

Try plugging in your iPod. Closing iTunes when it starts. Then run the yamipod program.

Stop "iPodService.exe" and try again. Apparently this process prevents an iPod from being assigned a drive letter.

I second the iPod reset. I have seen this issue before with my wife's iPod, and this always seems to fix it.
