I don't know if anyone has ever encountered this situation before. I have an Epson Printer hooked up to a Vista Computer. When I go to print from it, using Vista OR XP, there is a 45 sec delay between hitting the print command and the print dialog box showing up. Then there is another huge delay when you hit print and the printer starts printing. Even worse, this can sometimes lock up your applications.

I found out the problem lies in the Epson drivers. The work around is to not install the network shared printer the old fashion way, Add Printer/ Add printer that is on the network. Rather, add the printer locally. Then under printer preferences, clock the ports tab, and add a local port. Choose the local port option and it will ask where to point the port to. Type the UNS name of the printer ie. "\\Vista-comp\Epson Printer".

That kills the stupid lag. Ughh.
