I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, but I couldn't think of a suitable place for it to go.

Anyway, here is the problem I am having. I installed MP3ext a few days ago, and it changed my icons. I disabled the icon handler and now it shows my iTunes icons. The problem is that 1) MP3ext has not fully uninstalled and 2) The icons take a long time to load.

What can I do to improve the icon loading times?

I can open up my music folder, scroll over one column and it will stop to load. It really makes me angry.

    Thanks.

hmmm... I'd love to help you, but I've never uninstalled mp3ext, so I don't know about the icon problems. Did you check the mp3ext programs folder? If its still there rename it temporary to see if that would fix it. If it does, then delete it, but if it makes it worse rename the folder back.

It acts the same either way.

It's weird that MP3ext never actually uninstalled. It's still in the properties menu, some of the icons used to come back (though I deleted the program folder from the registry and now they don't), but it doesn't show up on the Add/Remove Program list.

I probably shouldn't have deleted that value from the registry, since it got slow after that. Oh well.

Hmm... there is still a reg key that points icons to the iconhandler which isn't there any more so the system pauses. I'll see if there is manual removal instructions anywhere.
