I am considering getting myself a desktop. I need it to share content of a number of Bitlocker-encrypted NTFS USB HDDs to my laptop in a secure and convenient way. I assume I will need to restrict file sharing to SMB3 only. What else do I need to do to it?

If you are a bit paranoid then encrypt all files prior to sending.

I always prefer to encrypt individual files instead of the whole disk. If there is an issue with the disk drive then you may loose all the files. But that is my opinion. Others may have another opinion.
