    Secure filecopy between 2 Vista on public network

    Is it possible to to securely use networked printers, shared folders and so on between 2 vista computers on a public network?

    ofcourse it is. when u share a file, folder or printer in vista. u can set permissions for which people on the network would be able to use the file. it doesnt matter whether u r in a privete or public network. if u dont dont want these restrictions. just type everyone in the sharing dialogue

    Well, it depends what you mean by secure. As kuncheesh mentioned, regular Windows filesharing can be set up to require authentication. But are the contents of the transferred files encrypted? I doubt it.

    That does not make the communication secure. Anyone can use a network sniffer software and watch the data as it is transferred over the network. In order to secure it, you need to use a VPN. I hear that "hamachi" is pretty good and might help you in this.

    VPN is exactly what i need, how do i setup a VPN connection between 2 computers?

    hamachi if you see this post can you give some much needed info.

    Ah, no. Hamachi is one piece of software you could use to do this. I don't know much about it other than it claims to be a pretty easy to set up VPN. Try google.
