I've had my 1505 for about a month and the screensaver worked perfectly for about the first two weeks. But now it won't ever pop up. I tried adjusting the setting to 1 minute to see if it would pop up and it never does. After about 15 mins my notebook just shuts off into sleep mode.

Can someone help with this problem?

    Thanks

Yeah I can preview it and I tried with different screensavers.

Do you know what the problem can be?

I'm moving this to the software forum since it is more of an XP problem and not dell specific.

Most likely you have some software that is causing problems. Have you reformatted?

I would say scan for infections. (something recommended for almost any problem) Some piece of software could be preventing your computer from using the screensaver. Did you install the application software for the mouse? Maybe there's an update. Try uninstalling that and using the basic windows driver.

Try going into safe mode and see if that works. If it doesn't work there either, and you have no infections, you could try "chkdsk /f" in the command prompt. That might fix a software issue or two.

One other thing that may prevent the SS from kicking in is if a menu is open in one of your apps. (ie, you click 'File' in Word and walk away...)

Our Dell Desktop did the same thing.
We tried everything and nothing worked, after a few good kicks and some cussing I reinstalled Xp.

If none of the other suggestions work, you could try the program Advanced WindowsCare. It is tailored to find and fix Windows problems, along with providing some additional features. I believe it is currently free, check it out.

Hopefully something works. It is a huge burden to reformat and reinstall to fix a screensaver problem.

Thanks for all the help and info guys.
I found the problem. I had to disable Ehtray, in msconfig.
Here's the link if you want to see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911895
