Last resort.. asking for help ;(

Iwe got a zepto 6224w (NVIDIA 8600gt) and an HP 22" w2228h external monitor(VGA) running windows XP pro. Iwe downloaded the newest nvidia notebook drivers, and the HP monitor driver from the HP website.

The external screen is supose to run 1680X1050, but the only resolution im allowed to choose is the standard 1490X900 (highest) that the laptop screen also runs. The 1680x1050 resolution for the external monitor just isnt there (only the 1490x.. one and some high as hell resolutions which my monitor doesnt run).

Anyone aware of a fix for this?

    Pwetty please! ;/

    /Kasper

You need to set the screen to extend your laptop screen in Display Properties (Control Panel>Display Properties>Settings).

There are 3 ways you can setup an external monitor
1.Single (only one display will work, other one will be off. you can use maximum resolution of the working display)
2.Clone (Both monitors will display the same desktop/output, you can only use the lower resolution between the two, I think you are using this mode right now)
3.Dual view (Both monitors will work, but two different desktops will be displayed, one will have your main desktop and the other one an extended desktop. You can use the maximum resolution of each display in this mode too)

You can configure the monitor from windows display settings or
nVidia control panel : Right click on the desktop > nVidia Control Panel > Display > Setup multiple displays.
