I have a samsung u32j590 monitor which is a 32' 4k monitor that I bought last year. It had worked good with no issues.

Now today when I power it on, it shows in the top left corner Displayport as usual. But its suppose to go to the main screen. My dell xps 15 9550 laptop is connected to 2 monitors... this one and an older 24' monitor. This samsung 32' monitor is connected with one cable to my laptop... and the other 24' monitor is connected with another cable to my laptop. This 32' is connected to my laptop with a display port to the back of the monitor. The other 24' monitor i connect with an hdmi to hdmi cable.

So the monitor keeps turning off... then turning back on and keep displaying displayport in top left corner. How do i fix this issue? When you click on the power button, I do see the square box in the bottom corner where you can click on menu. There is also the option to go from displayport to hdmi 1 and hdmi 2 but of course its displayport.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue? My other 24 monitor does turn on but this one doesn't?

    Thanks.

It also doesn't seem to detect this monitor. Does anyone have any advice on this? I unplugged the cables from monitor and plug it back in... same issue.

Basically there is a blue light flashing while screen is black. You click on power button and it shows square box in bottom right corner with options of menu, source, power on and return. I clicked power off. Then press power button and its back to same menu.

Can you switch them over: plug Samsung into hdmi and 24' monitor into display port? This will at least evaluate if the cables are working ok. Ideally borrowing the cable from someone is the easiest first step in diagnostics as the cables are the most likely to fail over time.

Okay so I just took out an old 24' asus monitor and tested it. This is another 24' monitor that I used to use with the 24' samsung monitor before I got the 32' 4k monitor.

This is my 24' asus monitor that i just took out to try to use..

This is my 32' 4k samsung monitor that is having the issue

My 24' asus monitor does turn on. So right these two 24' monitors work side by side.

So this would mean its 100% not the cable then right? Since im using the same usb-c to displayport cable right now to connect the old 24' asus monitor to my laptop... which is the same cable i use to connect the 32' 4k samsung monitor to my laptop?

So now is the question... is it my monitor... or is it my computer not recognizing the 32' 4k monitor? It doesn't detect the 32' monitor.

But is it a good thing that the 32' samsung monitor powers on and there is the blue light? What about it having the square at the bottom where you could click on displayport, hdmi 1 and hdmi 2 and could press menu?

Okay for some reason now it works. I don't know why. I unplugged the cable few times and plugged it back in and now it works.

Anyone know the reason for this?

The malignant spirits you've invited to inhabit your laptop went to sleep for a while, so there was a short letup in their sabotaging work.

All those posts depicting 3756 different problems... abandon all hope for help in forums or repair shop, bring the pc to the Vatican for an exorcism.

Okay so I just noticed when i lock my computer... many times my monitor turns dark for a few seconds before going back to normal. Is this normal? I notice even my laptop screen does this and sometimes the other 24' monitor does it as well. Such as it goes dark for few seconds and then goes back to normal.

This is when i click on task manager and lock it and thus you should see like a wallpaper and the time on the samsung 32' 4k screen.

Perfectly normal, as the ghosts and spirits are awake again. Now eagerly at work disconnecting and reconnecting cables & connectors inside the pc.

If you put your ear to the laptop, you'll hear them laughing loudly and feasting, satisfied with their successes in creating all those incomprehensible problems.
