On my desktop, I have a sound card able to capture streaming audio since the Driver comes with the feature to do that. I was wondering if theres any way to do that on a notebook, besides of course running a cable from the mic to the headphone jack. I tried that and the sound quality was horrible. Is there any freeware program that allows you to do that?

    You'll likely be wanting streamripper

    http://streamripper.sourceforge.net/

Have a look for yourself. It does a great job on a number differernt media types, though it doesn't do everything. And it's free, as it beer AND speech :)
