    Hi :)

My old computer is broken, there's a problem on the motherboard. So I've converted the old hard drive into an external one, and am using it with the new laptop (also running XP).

My problem is I would like to know how I can access my administrative account in the old HDD of the former laptop, at least to retrieve the data from the disc, since WindowsXP keeps denying access.

    Thanks :)

The easiest way I know is to download a Linux distro live CD (Ubuntu, Mint) and boot with it in the cd drive. You will have unrestricted access to your external drive.

Might be a bit more complicated if the OP had the drive/folder password-ed.

    cheers ...
