    Hi all,

After a recent BSOD, which I think was due to a virus, I have managed to boot my laptop from an Ubuntu CD to retrieve my data before I restore to factory settings. I just have a couple of questions before I restore.

    (i) If the crash was due to a virus, is there any files/ areas I need to steer clear of while retrieving my data to avoid transferring the virus to my laptop once restored.
(ii) Is there a file somewhere I can back up so I won't lose all my Firefox bookmarks

Any advice is appreciated as always.

Yes stay clear of EXE files from the infected drive and just take backup of the profile folder (firefox) ...

Thanks, I have two hard drives in my laptop so I'm guessing that since it wouldn't boot up that the virus was on the drive with the OS installed. Would you recommend not retrieving data from this drive? All I really need from it drive is a few documents from college, the majority of my data was on the secondary drive.
