Hello. I replaced my Dell 9200 with a new laptop and am selling the old one on ebay/craigslist. I'd like to do a clean install of either XP or Vista (came w/ XP, went to Vista) where I can load up all the updates and new drivers, etc, then when the new buyer turns the notebook on, it goes to the register and add your username screen like when it was bought from the manufacturer and all my info is gone such as network, etc. Is this possible? Thanks.

Depends on how you are doing it....if you have a windows restore image on a partition, you just run that and don't sign in.

Or, if you have an OEM windows disk, you need a Windows OPK kit...which one depends on the OS you are using...It allows you to set up windows so they get the wizard at the beginning that allows the end user to configure it.

OK, thanks. I don't have the partition, blew it out 4 or 5 years ago. I have a purple colored XP SP2 Dell installation CD, but that's not really OEM is it? Anyways, I looked for the preinstallation kit and it appears I need to be a licensed partner to get one.

    Thanks, appreciate the response!
