Does anyone know how to delete the tags in Vista Windows Photo Gallery, other than manually? I have hundreds of unwanted tags that were inadvertently and automatically added by Photo Gallery from a directory full of stock photos that I had in my Pictures folder. As far as I know, you can only remove one tag at a time and it's way too time consuming. You can hold the control button down to make multiple selections.

A wild guess, but I was wondering if I could delete the PhotoLibraryDatabase, hoping it would rebuild itself devoid of keywords.

I know absolutely nothing about DLL files and don't want to mess things up. I thought I'd ask again here before experimenting.

hmmm... if you need to select more files there is a 'check boxes to select items' option in folder options. this might be useful.

don't know what will happen with the dll file. i'm too chicken to delete them most of the time. you could always just change the name of the file to .txt or something so it won't run- that way you can easily put it back in action if things go to hell.

oh, i tried it and it works. you can select the box at the top (next to name) to select all the pictures. then go to properties, then to details. change the tag, and it will change the tag for all of the selected files. booyah! hopefully if you put nothing there it will delete all the tags...

Thanks very much for the suggestion.

For my situation, I found out I needed to remove the tags from the stock photos AND then delete two hidden files: pictures.pd4 and NavTree.state.

Few will need to do this as most don't have a large number of stock photos in their Pictures Folder like I do. I posted the steps I took at my website just in case others face the same thing:
