I just went to Java's website and downloaded Java 6 Update 15... According to my Add / Remove Programs list though, I still have Java Update 7 on my laptop... The only thing is though is that there is no option to uninstall it, nor does it show up in Revo Uninstaller (only Update 15 does)... So I went snooping around and managed to find the Java folders... Would it be safe to delete the "jre1.6.0_07" folder and all of its contents? Should I just delete both Java folders and redownload Update 15?

Why don't you just leave it alone? or are you experiencing any real issues because of this?

It should be safe. Normally, there should be an uninstall for it (it's how I uninstalled it), but you can just delete the 1.6.0_07 folder so long as you keep the jre1.6.0 and jre1.6.0_15 folders and check that they're in your PATH.

The newer Java updates automatically removes the older version during installation.

I removed the jre1.6.0_07 folder but the program still showed up in the uninstall programs list... Even after deleting the entire Java folder it was still there... So I did some Googling and found out about Windows Installer Clean Up... After installing this program I was able to remove the "ghost" Java 6 Update 7 from the uninstall programs list :)

    run into this problem constantly.

Usually uninstall older versions one at a time. Sometimes it requires a reboot of the 1.5 versions.

Have used the windows installer cleanup for other failed uninstalls. it usually works.

That JavaRA looks interesting msrie. Grabbed it and try it on a machine shortly. THX

qhn is right, it doesn't, Java will keep all the previous version(s) in your system.

TheBMRR, just uninstall all the previous versions and then install only the latest one, you shouldn't have any problem. You will only need the old versions if you have some old Java apps that require them.

JRE 6 Update 16 isn't on the link above yet, but you can get it here:
