    Dear All,

How do I remove a mail account from Thunderbird? When I say 'remove', I mean 'remove' it fully - not just deleting an account from within Thunderbird (which I know how to do and I have already done), but also removing the folders where the email' are stored.

I have an email which I don't use anymore / which will expire soon..

I saw in the Thunderbird profile folder, there were many subfolders with the name [ imap.xxxxx.it-1, imap.xxxxx-1.it, imap.xxxxx-2.it, .... imap.xxxxx-261.it ] and a total size of 2.20 GB.

Can I just delete those folders?

    Thanks and Cheers..

I'm not sure and I'm not about to try but removing an account under account settings (right click on account name) won't delete the folders? I guess if it doesn't and you don't want to use that account deleting the folders won't cause any harm.

My two emails are web based so I always have them online anyway.

    Thanks a lot, Hiker.

No. Deleting the account through account settings did delete the folders.. It has left everything in the thunderbird profile folder....

So yes, I'm also thinking of deleting those folders which belong that mail account.. but I just want to be sure.

This is a web-based mail too (and the institute' mail server' have them anyways, till the account is officially closed by them - which is due at the end of this year). But since I stopped using it in Thunderbird and since I have the important mails exported and saved, I was wondering if I can free up some space by deleting it from Thunderbird, but apparently it just deleted the account settings within Thunderbird but left the folders sitting pretty!

Good to know for sure. I plan on keeping Thunderbird but have 3 Gig total if I decide to just go web based..
