The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Remove drive letters from explorer navigation pane

    I'm using Windows 7, not sure it's possible... There's a way to hide the drive letters from the main right pane but is there any way (maybe a registry edit) to make them go away in the navigation pane?

    EDIT:
    Managed to remove the letters from the drives, but as you can see in the screenshot below items from my Libraries still show drive letters...

    Not sure why you don't want to know where they are but I only have drive letters next to the drives under my computer but in both panes. No letters next to folders in the library

    Under Libraries, in Music, do you have it pointing to My Music, as per default? In the default settings it doesn't show drive letters. Only after I removed the My Music/My Pictures link from the libraries it started showing the letters... I'm uploading a "before" screenshot below.
