Wot is best software to remove adware and spyware ? My old laptop got some "spyware" and "adware" infected, and I already tried using Spybot remove it but it didn't remove the one in the operating memory. Every time I run on spybot it keeps saying that I still got one in the oprating memory. Anyone can tell me wot to do ? I'm really getting annoyed by those pops up and said that If I subcribe Bla Bla Bla and it will help me to sort the issue. Pls help me !!! :(

Usually Spybot will ask you if you want to run it again when you reboot so it can get if before it loads. Ad-Aware and bit Defender are also good ones. Usually good to have more than one. Makre sure you keep them updated.

I already tried the Adaware, it worked perfect after cleaning but those adwares came back after a reboot.

You probably need to manually clean out these folders:

    Cookies
    Temp
    Temporary Internet Files

A good free program which may do this for you is Ccleaner at www.ccleaner.com

I'm not sure what you're exactly talking about here, but I remember I used to get a bunch of advertisement dialog boxes that sound kind of like that popping up before I upgraded XP to SP2 (which included a firewall). Have you updated Windows recently?

You might want to try HiJackThis. Also use FireFox and you'll get less junk.

I'm sure that I've constantly upadated Window. As for the ads that you got, that's exactly wot I'm talkin' about. I'm also being asked to buy the anti-malware when i start browsing with firefox. It's weird that I've never used IE for ages and I don't understand how the heck I got these infection. And these pops up are actually from IE too. These anti-malware softwares would do the scanning and then tell how serious my computer is infected by scumware and etc. :

Well, your last resort is to back up your personal files and reformat your entire HD and do a clean reinstall. Those pop ups that ask you to buy their anti-spyware software are themselves spyware. Other than that you'll probably have to go through your registry and delete those entries. I don't think a system restore would work either.

last time I got some spyware, neighter AVG nor Windows Defender detected it upon scanning. I had to find it myself, restart in Safe mode with Command Prompt and delete a few files manually.
In most cases, you can be your best spyware tool.

I think we may still be thinking of different things, but I'll run with it anyway. Do you have a firewall turned on then?

Spyware programs set themselves to run at start up, so look for unusual/unfamiliar names in the Msconfig. In my case it was osgm.... .exe, which is a totally new name for me. I ran both programs at it but they could not detect it. Actually Windows defender did detect it as dangerous but could not remove it because the moment it deleted, the spyware reappeared (they usually have more than one file and if one of is deleted, the other recreate it). So I restarted in SafeMode, found the files in System32 with modification date as the osgm.... .exe and deleted them through command prompt since Explorer didn't allow me. I don't know whether a better anti-virus would have removed it more easily. Probably but I don't mind a bit of manual labour now and then; reminds me of Wind98...eehhh

What I use at work(PC Tech):
    Spysweeper - Main general use
Adaware - Very good at a few kinds
Nod32 - Fast and efficient for older viruses
    Symantec Corporate - General Antivirus/antispyware
HijackThis - essential for all internet related problems
Spybot - fair at most problems, very good with a few
Defender Beta - misses a few easy ones, finds a few hard ones, ok general use

Keep in mind that if you are really infested and dont feel like picking through a registry for hours then its always better to just backup and reinstall. Learn from your mistake that let it on and you wont have to deal with it again.

I dont actively run any antivirus or antispyware and I havent had any problems on my machine for years. I do some risky things too ;-)

So a lot of avoiding it is with your head and not the software.

Hope this helps for the future.
