I've been experiencing a lot of noise whenever I record. I have an audio-technica lavaliere omnidirectional mic.

Thinking the problem might be that the internal mic was recording at the same time as the AT, I disabled it. But, when I went back to enable it, it wasn't there. So none of the online suggestions about displaying disabled devices, for example works, because there's nothing to display.

Also, the Realtek audio in the Devices Manager says that all of the drivers are up-to-date.

Short of reinstalling Windows, does anybody know of a way to enable or reinstall the mic that came with the computer? I have a HP dv9500t. As usual, the HP online help is useless.

    Cheers, Bruce

Did you disable it or actually uninstall the driver?

You could try searching for changed hardware - or try to reinstall the driver - that might work...
