    Does anyone have any good recommendations on a good registry cleaner. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, guys!

    i use CleanMyPC and regscrubxp. You have to pay for CleanMyPC though, but it does a good job.

    It's where Windows keeps information about installed programs, services, settings, basically everything.

    The registry files are located somewhere inside the Windows folder. The file system protects these files - you cannot edit or even view them directly. And it wouldn't make any sense if you did. What you need to do should you want to view or modify the registry is use Windows' built-in registry editor (REGEDIT) or any of the many third-party registry browsers/editors/fixers/cleaners.

    Messing with the registry is a fairly advanced OS maintenance task and must be done with knowledge and care.

    I like RegScrubXP as a free cleaner.

    However, RegVac is a great program, has a lot of comprehensive cleaning tools:

    It's $29 but well worth the cost. ;)

    ccleaner is by far the best free application. Heck at times it does a better job than comercial applications do.
