After my I used Easeus Data Recovery Wizard on my Dell Inspiron 1505, I realized I could not open some of the documents(all of it Word docs). Although I have not installed Microsoft Office yet, I tried using Open Office Word to view the documents. Some of which opened fined and I could treat it normally. However, most of it results in a ASCII Filter Options popup that asks for Character set, default fonts, language, paragraph break, etc. For the character set I choose the default "Western Europe(Windows 1252/WinLatin1)" option but my resume was a gibberish of symbols and breaks.

Will opening it with Microsoft Office help it or should I pick a specific setting for the popup in order to view the files properly? Thanks! :)

Try opening it with a wordpad. See if that works?

tried that as well. I have also tried renaming it so that it is no longer a .doc extension. Am I all out of luck? I wont be able to get the Office CD until next week so that may be my only hope. At the moment I dont think the file is corrupt, but how else can I get it to view properly?
