So after googling around, I've found countless references to this problem with an accompanying number of solutions. Unfortunately, none of them seems to work for me.
The problem is that my M860TU seems to have developed a disliking for certain USB devices. When I plug them in, I get an error message saying "A USB Device has malfunctioned." At first, it was just my IOGEAR Mobile Digital Scribe, but now it's spread to the USB mouse I use when out and about as well. Surprisingly, both my WD Passport and MX518 still work fine in the same USB ports. I've tried pretty much eveything to try and resolve this -- unplugging USB device, deleting INFCACHE.1, and restarting, uninstalling all the USB drivers (just the IOGEAR one in my case), and even taking out the battery for ~45 minutes and then plopping it back in. Nada. I'd really appreciate any help =/

Just thinking - could you go into device manager and check if your USB hub drivers are up to date??

Also - is this a Driver or OS problem?

You may have to do more than just uninstall and reinstall the device-specific drivers. It sounds like there may be some conflict or incompatibility problem with either the hub drivers or the chipset drivers, so it might be best to uninstall the chipset drivers, and reinstall them (or install the latest version if you don't already have them).
