Just a quick question before doing anything stupid...

I plan to do a clean install of Vista on my computer (I removed all the crapware over time but never went around to completly clean up the factory installation). The problem is that I installed Office 2010 on this computer. It was installed with the key of a "3 computers" licence pack. The key has already been used on three computers.

Is it just a matter of calling Microsoft to activate it again after doing the reinstallation process ?

And, subsidiary question, if I clone my drive with Acronis and save the image before formating and doing the clean install, will I be able to simply re-use that image if things go wrong ?

    Thanks for any input.

You should be able to just activate it the regular way, over the internet.

When you first activated Office it locked 1 key to that computer.

You should be able to activate it online, if it doesnt just call microsoft, it only takes a few minutes.

and yes you can just re-image the drive if things go wrong.

It should install just fine, I don't think you would have to call MS since you are installing it on the same hardware.
