Does anyone know of free software that can quickly disable the screensaver, monitor shut-off and sleep, just by running in the background, or how to make one.

I have grown a bit tired of going through my power plan and personalization settings everytime I want to do so.

I know many media players can do it (windows media player, Real Player, Windows media center, etc), so I guess I want it to work like that.

Mouse Jiggling is not of preference.

Nope, that was malware, it messed up my system completely, I had to run system restore...from Safe Mode!

I really need such software plz, there just has to be one somewhere.

    Ouch!

Anyways... it's easy to switch power plans quickly... just click the power icon in the system tray and select another plan. That should take care of monitor shut-off and sleep. (Of course, beforehand, you need to create the plans with the settings you want in the control panel... but you only have to do that once.)

As for quickly disabling the screen saver... I'm not sure.

I know I didn't directly answer your question... sorry, I don't know of any prevent-idling-detection type programs.

    Cool. Well, there ya go.

Although, now that I think about it, an easier solution would be to disable the screensaver completely and use the power plan (advanced settings) to shut off the display after a certain amount of time. Then all you have to do is switch power plans from the system tray as I described earlier.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Do you want to be able to switch your settings on the fly or do you want to permanently turn those things off?

Switch them on the fly. I don't want them permanently off.

For now, the best suggestions are haOkepa's and swarmer's power plan advice.

    Thanks :D
