    My laptop: Dell Latitude D820: 1920x1200, 2GB DDR2 667 ram, nVidia NVS 120M VC, 80GB 7200 RPM HD, Pentium Core Duo T2600 2.16 GHz.

1.) I'm running XP Pro but plan to upgrade to Vista Home Premium. Will I need to install the 32bit version or can I install the 64bit version of Vista?

2.) Do I need to download new drivers for my laptop when switching to Vista? Or will Vista automatically do that for me?

3.) How does this video card compare with others when it comes to live streaming? Will vista Home Premium make any difference in Live Stream quality?

    Thanks for the help.

1- You can only run 32-Bit Windows Vista, and or XP on your Core Duo.

2- Dell will release Vista Drivers, after the release of Windows Vista, so sometime after January 30th.

3- You have a good gpu so no worries, it will stream live audio/video with ease. It will not make any difference what version of Vista you have when you use live streams.

    No Prob, take care

u can install either version if u wish, but i personally prefer 32bits due to its general support and drivers availability. core-duo = hmmm

by the time vista starts roll out, we all hope that all needed drivers would be included - though one would always chase after graphic driver direct from the manufacturer site regardless

this card is "based" on GO7400 so it is not bad at all, pic quality would be excellent. Streaming quality depends on many things, good graphic card helps but not necessarily improves anthing if u have lousy bandwidth, low ram, slow hard drive ... i do not see it in ur case, other than check ur isp performance

    cheers ...

(ghn) "u can install either version if u wish"

It will not run 64-Bit Operating Systems, or Programs.

    Core Duo "Yonah"= 32-Bit

    Core 2 Duo "Merom"= 32-Bit (or) 64-Bit.

I appreciate the responses. However, what is the final word on the 32/64 bit question? One of you appear to think its not possible to load 64 and the other says it is possible.

Oh, just got the reply. okay. So is there a huge difference in the graphics? Will Vista still look improved over XP Pro on my laptop?

Trust me, it's only 32-Bit, and yes Vista is more beautiful than XP to say the least, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

okay...so knowing that, is the 64bit version a big difference from the 32bit? Is it worth upgrading my cpu over it?

can't say much about intel since i use amd, but my m6805 performs very well with xp64 and vista rc2.64 bits (with latest vista rtm 32bits, i see really not much of a difference)
the drawback is of course, that most apps r still being developped/built using 32bits architecture, so the gain is not so much that one must go into 64bits now

    cheers ...
