Hi, I'm not that tech savy and I have some questions about XP and Win 7.

I'm currently using a 2006 model Sony Vaio Laptop running XP. I'm planning on downloading Win 7 and doing a clean install. Now since it's an evaluation copy, when it's over will I be able to use my Recovery Disks to reinstall the original OS?

I've also read about Duel Booting Windows 7. Would that be better/easier to do instead? Does creating a partition on my internal hard drive wipe all my files? Also, I only have 20gb of free space left, so would that be enough to Duel Boot?

    Thanks in advance

Yes, dual-booting would be the better choice. There's no need to wipe your XP install. I recommend Easeus Partition Master. It is free, and yes, you can delete the partition later. Depending on how many applications you intend to install, you should have at least 12 gb for the new partition, as the install of Windows 7 will take up around 7 gb. You should not give it the full 20, as you need some free space for XP to run comfortably, whatever that percentage was that is recommended by Microsoft for paging and whatever temporary storage.

20gigo left is a bit (very) tight for XP and W7 to co-exist. I strongly recommend getting a larger drive first.

    cheers ...
