Hello all, I have been having a problem with my laptops hibernation and stand-by functions. Basically whats been happening is whenever I put my notebook into 'hibernation mode' it at first does what any properly functioning laptop would do by going into the windows hibernation screen. it then shuts off as it should, but recently approximately 5 seconds after it goes into full hibernation it starts up again by itself. Therefore disabling me from being able to put my laptop into any other function other than shutting it down. And being that my notebook doesn't, by any means, boot up fast.. it makes not being able to put it into stand-by etc. even more frustrating.

by the way I have a Toshiba A75-S206. it blows. (because of problems like the one I just mentioned above that it always seems to be having!)
nevertheless, it has a pentium 4 HT with 2.8 GHz & 896 mb of RAM (after upgrade)

Please, get back to me if you have any ideas as to why this could be happening and what could possibly be causing it. If not, any possible solution that I am apparently un-aware of? thanks in advance.

did you recently install any software that might be "waking" the computer up? something like an antivirus or something that autoupdates?

Yes, I have recently installed Norton Antivirus 2006. But this problem has been occuring even before I installed it. Although I do have Windows Automatic Updates turned on. Other than that, from what I know nothing else really autoupdates.
    thanks
    Any other suggestions, anyone?

My friends Toshiba returns power when the screen is open if she hibernates it. Close the screen when it starts to hibernate and see if that works.

try your power management. check that if you shut off your lappie with it go on standby instead of hibernating, maybe theres a conflict
