I have downloaded the Trial version of the AVG Antivirus/Firewall. How do you configure the Firewall? When I click on Properties, it shows "Allow All". How do you configure it to activate the firewall so it is protecting my laptop? If I select "block all" it will not allow anything to access the internet.

    Thanks!

I personally use ZoneAlarm. There is a part if it where it gives you control over which programs can get in and out. You can either allow all, ask or block all. Most firewalls are similar. I only allow FireFox and Bearshare to have free access. There are a couple that I have it ask first like the virus software and spyware finders. Everything else I block.

i used it for a couple months before switching to pc-cillin. i seem to recall that if an application was trying to access the web, norton would pop a dialogue box that would ask you if you wanted to allow it always, allow it one time, deny always, or deny once.

Ya, Norton does that...but it annoys the crap out of me. Plus Norton really slows down my laptop, as it uses up a lot of resources. Do you have antivirus as well as firewall with PC Chillin?

I downloaded AVG, but the firewall feature isn't all that great.

Any other antivrus/firewall combo software out there that is good? I heard NOD32 is good, but it's only Antivirus, no Firewall.

yes, it's av, firewall, and spyware...

actually, the spyware killer finds stuff that spybot and ad-aware never do

also, it updates a lot, like at least once a day
