does torrent use my bandwidth ( my limit is 12 GB ) if i downloaded 7gb file, will it be 5gb left or using torrent will avoid ISP monitoring and it will still 12 gb left ?

I think it would be 5 GB if you use 7 GB. Torrents can't avoid your ISP monitoring to my knowledge.

Damn, a 12 GB limit?! The traffic report in Bandwidth Monitor (neat little utility) shows I'm up to 61 GB just these first two and half weeks of January.
Though I am admittedly taking full advantage of my recent upgrade from a 2 to a 10 Mbit connection :).

Can't you find an ISP in your country without a limit on downloads? I don't even think we have any left here with imposed restrictions.

I got 20 here and hell that sucks. Especially on a 7.1mbps connection. $7.50 for each extraGB.

Switching to DSL, wich is unlimited here in Quebec city would be a downgrade to 5.0 and more, I can't because I got phone with the cable company too... (Videotron is $20 less than Bell for the phone!).

    < BRAGGING >
Enjoying a 100M with no limit :D here in Japan
    Speedtest.net results : 28890kbps down / 9016kbps UP
Paying only $37 (~4000Y) per month with free IP phone.
    < / BRAGGING >

As for the original question, yes everything counts, torrents, HTTP downloads and even your IM (Skype, MSN, Yahoo etc).

    Yeah, its on earth….
NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone) ,Japan’s largest telecommunications provider is now offering 100Mbps Fiber optics lines directly to homes (AKA FFTH : Fiber to the home) at a flat fee. 100Mbits/sec is the theoretical maximum, not guaranteed. As you can see in my signature, according to Speedtest.net bandwidth is only about 29M :eek2:
