    Hi all,

I wanted to know if anyone could tell me what are the signs of your motherboard failing? Are there any signs, or does do you find out when you go to turn your computer on and nothing happens?

Sadly no. But before writing it off, one can always try to:
. clean up the inside and apply new thermal paste
    . reseat/replace CPU

    cheers ...

In extreme cases, melted capacitors, but most of the time it's just dead.

as for laptops the only sign or warning is the need to relatively power on, no biosphere loading, force power down, rinse and repeat several times before bios and OS joy.

Sorry, but I don't think I have any idea what this means. I'm not trying to be a smart-arse. I just don't think I understand this post, especially the last part.

Ah, I didn't catch that at first glance for whatever reason. Interesting that someone with only 7 posts feels at liberty to come trolling in with posts like that.

A good indicator would be nothing happening when you press the power button. If the BIOS boots up but not the OS then you can figure maybe the hard drive. It the fans run and any lights turn on then it might be the video card which most likely means you have to replace the motherboard anyhow.
