KIS 2010 is bogging down my system, so I'd like to set the affinity to core 1, but I keep getting "access denied".

    Vista x64 SP2.

In what way is KIS bogging down your system?

Generally you have to run one full system scan after the first installation to sognificalntly improve performance.

Also - do not update KIS and run a scan at the same time.

If your problem is due to a memory leak - download it again (I know, same file number) and instal it again.

I get folder and program open lag, 2-3 seconds sometimes and when it happens my CPU pins to 100%. My CPU idles higher too, between 8-10% usually.

I only had anti-virus last year, I upgraded to internet security for the firewall.

It shouldn't be the "scan whole PC issue" but you may try it.

Remove external drives to speed it up and try a full system scan.

K, I'll give it a try and see if it helps.

I'm more puzzled by the fact I can't set affinity though, that's my main issue.
