I am running Vista Ultimate x64. My friend is having problems on an XP Pro machine.
He creates the help file and sends it to me. He is on a home network. He has port 3389 set to be forwarded on his router for TCP/UDP.
He is using some Charter firewall. He disables that. And the windows security shows him a red light saying firewall is disabled.
When his computer boots it gives a little warning saying that a program is trying to act as a server (this is normal I think).
But it doesn't let me connect to him.
We tried it through windows messenger as well with no luck.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I am missing?

Last I heard, there is no way that XP can offer Remote Assistance in conjunction with a Vista machine. Even tried with this FAQ here (no go):

I am going from Vista to XP. I know it works as I've done it before. There seems to be a problem with the charter security suite firewall not turning off properly or maybe there is a second firewall he's not aware of.

Is it possible that Vista is expecting a password from your friend's XP? Ask him to create one and give it a shot.
