I recently installed Windows Defender beta 2 anti-spyware on my notebook and found that it apparently conflicts with Notebook Hardware Control. I found that, when starting my notebook, the computer would freeze up when NHC tried to load up. The task manager indicates NHC was not responding, but the entire system was unresponsive to any icon clicks also. When I eliminated Defender from the startup using msconfig, the notebook started up fine. I finally uninstalled Defender and all is well. Defender works fine on my desktop where I don't use NHC. Has anyone else seen such conflicts? I checked MS knowledgebase and the Defender website and found no mention of conflicts.

Well losing NHC is not really a loss
It once let my notebook CPU reach 71 Centigades...

I have them both - work together - no problems whatsoever. I would like to help you, and if you need any other info, I can check and report back.

    Cheers,

Thanks Ikovac for feedback. Sounds like there's something else going on in my notebook. I can live without Defender. I'm using three other anti-spyware programs.
