Hi friends i need help with the following:

I have a Asus A8J. The Bios version is A8JAS.207

Curently i tries installing/upgrading the current OS (XP Home) to Vista Business. But everytime i do that from windows XP a problem occurs.

    1. After copying the upgrade files for vista the pc restarts.. but cannot continue... cauz it keeps on restarting with ASUS bios logo over and over again.

    2. I have formatted the hard drive more than 4 times and have given up. I really want go with vista and my laptop A8J is equipped with Coreduo processor, 1GB ram and 80GB hdd and DVDRW. But what is the problem?

    3. I even tried clean install but when restarting - the same problem occurs.

Please help out. I even wrote to ASUS tech support but even after 2 working days - there's no reply - kind of slow...

    Thank you,
    BEN

Where's you get your copy of Vista Business?

Is there any way to hide the Asus logo screen so you can see what is happening in the background?

Could be a memory stick, could be a problematic boot sector--many Asus laptops come with a hidden partition for recovery -- did you remove this hidden partition. I have found such things can create install issues.

try this... perform the clean install and when your pc is about to restart, pop the dvd out. once you get past the bios screen the setup will resume and ask you to put the dvd back in.
