Mine isn't exactly a normal Vista desktop... But I guess it's alright.

I like something that reflects a far-off, unknown planet or space. It can keep me thinking.

I'd also like to keep my Desktop as clean as possible, so i have no icons and 3 sidebar items there.

So far all these desktops are awesome! Vista has one thing working for it and that is pretty shiny things! Can't wait to see some more.

 

about dreamscene, is it normal to have about 20% CPU usage while it's on?

 

It takes up its share yes...Dreamscene as it is is a huge battery killer.

I use it only plugged in. Lsst night, even plugged in to my external 19" LCDm I suddenly heard the fan kick in full bore for the first time. It stays on like that as long as the two monitors are both running dreamscene.

 

Amazingly beautiful. Even the calendar's color is a perfect match for that kind of picture.
Who is the author of the painting? Somehow it reminds me of the young Hopper.

I like abstract background colours for my desktop since I don't find myself getting annoyed at such ambiguous images. I'll fluctuate between a very messy and very tidy desktop as well!

 

mine is bland and plain, I don't use docks nor sidebars.

 

Where I can find original HP wallpapers that come with Vista laptops?

 

I don't know if the HP wallpapers are included here but there is a huge selection of wallpapers anyway.

I couldn't find it again, but I know i've see that on interfacelift. Fabulous website for high-res FREE wallpapers fyi.

 

This desktop is actually a dreamscene, it looks pretty bland in the picture but watching it in motion is pretty calming in my opinion and it doesn't get boring unlike alot of the others i've seen.

 

pantee, thats the very same one i use.... i dont think its bland at all, its betta than a solid screen... untouched nature at its best

 

totally agree, i dig how its so calming but at the same time keeps you awake.

 

I found this background on Deviant Art....Other than that everything's normal... I like my desktop clean.

I would like to find a source of some free themes without going through Stardock - Thatcompany must be making a million throuh Microsoft.

 

So it moves in the background? How do you get it to do that?

 

If you have vista ultimate, you goto windows update and under the ultimate extras section, you will see an option to download "dreamscene". Once its installed, you goto desktop background preferences and you will have the option to choose video as well as pictures.

I have read around online about getting it to work on non-ultimate versions, but I don't know if its legal.

 

Where did you find the gadget for wireless signal strength? Having something like that would be dead handy!

Whats going on guys. I've been lurking around for a while but here's mine.

 

This one's mine at the moment. I have a few others that are good too, but this is one's my favorite.

 

here is mine:

 

Trying to keep my desktop as clean as possible after dealing with the giant mess that my old desktop was. And I might be downloading ubuntu there... wanna try to convert my old dead desktop (need to replace the CPU fan) into a linux box.

 

That is one very cool desktop wallpaper...where did you get it?
