I don't know if this is the right forum to ask but I will give it a try. I have a Dell XPS M1710 Notebook and an older Dell Desktop. The desktop is wired directly to my wireless router and the notebook is connected wireless. After almost completly losing my notebook and all of my data, I would like to backup all my data on both computers. Is there a way that I can have my two computers mirror each other so if one goes down I just move over to the other computer and pick up where I left off, kinda like raided hard drives.

    In short, yes.

Should you do it? Maybe not.

A complete mirror image of your laptop on your desktop will not be 100% functional. You can keep a spare backup of your laptop on your desktop.

Acronis True Image Home is a piece of software I have always recommended. I have always made a full backup once a week and differential backups everyday. Your needs might vary.

BTW, for your full backups, I suggest you connect your laptop to the router with a wire, depending on how much data is on your laptop.
