    Hello.

I bought an ACER 5736z from Newegg and have been using it without too many issues (just anti-virus and wireless acting up sometimes).

    It has Windows 7 Premium...

This morning, I got up and set my laptop down and when I turned around, it was just off. I checked the power cord and it was still running and it hadn't been unplugged or anything. I don't keep the battery in the laptop as I don't want to use it unless I have to.

So later, after I start it up again, I plug in My Passport external Hard-drive to do a backup just in case it happens again. Well, the computer didn't want to recognize the Hard-drive so I shut down. The hard-drive was still connected during shut down.

My Laptop decides it does not want to shut down at all. I unplug the hard drive during the shut down and continue to watch it for about 5 minutes.

At this point, I see the blue screen of death. It comes on for about 2 seconds and then the laptop acts as if I have merely restarted it (goes to the ACER screen then to the black screen that tells me the laptop did not shut down properly.)

I had been getting an error message through Symantec that .exe was being blocked. I'm watching for the error message to pop up again but it has not so far...

I'm not computer tech savvy at all and I don't know what information I should supply you in order to have this issue resolved.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    How often does this happen?
If it has only happened once, there should not be any problem with the computer. I myself have had quite a few irregular bluescreens.

If this happens frequently try to power drain the computer, as it will reset the bios. To do a power drain, follow these steps:
    1: Turn off the computer
2: Remove the battery and power plug
3: Hold the power button for about 20 secs
4: Reinsert the battery and power plug.
    5: Start the computer.

Hi Simplified. Yes, this has only happened this once.

I also saw the 'traffic blocked' error message thing again. This keeps getting blocked by Symantec:

    ntoskrnl.exe

On my old HP which had Vista and the same anti-virus, I never saw this error message.

I do not use Norton/Symantec myself, so I do not have any experience with the traffic blocked issue. I googled to find more information about the traffic blocked message and found this traffic blocked from ntoskrnl.exe | Symantec Connect Community from Symantecs support database.

Does this traffic block error message come frequently?
