I just got CS4 today, I expected just a few minor tweaks and additions but it has changed a lot.
Im trying to get used to it, a few things that should be easy got me stuck (like no "unmaximize" button for a work window so I could not drag a layer from one canvas to another lol.)
I assume those who made the move from an earlier photoshop like the new CS4 and consider it worth move?
Anyways I already found my first major obstical, I have major lag/delay with using the tools I googled it and found it is related to the new opengl stuff. If I turn off that feature everything is back to full speed but I lose some of the new features of CS4 in doing it. So I hope somebody has a fix?
Asus W90
6gb ram
Q9000 @ 2.0 - 2.7ghz
ATI 4870X2
Also I really do not like this "flick to scroll" feature when using the pen tool and zoomed in I want to scroll only a certain distance and be accurate about it, so the thing decides to "slide" further than I scrolled anybody know how to turn this off? Its so annoying, esp with the lag I get with the opengl on. I scroll, and have to wait 4 seconds while it slides past before the tool is functional again.

photo shop is used to edit the photo from the computer.
with the help of this software you can edit the photos. and set it according to you.
i never use the photo shop for editing the photos. -
Cs4 uses so much ram, it's crazy. I prefer cs2.

I use it on my netbook.

did you obtain the regular version or extended?
-
I got Photoshop CS4 Extended as part of a stundet package (only way you can afford these things - lucky students)
Anyway - when do you get the lag?
I don't get any but maybe my photo editing isn't complex enough?
Are you working on 2D or 3D?
I'm speaking about 2D at the moment. 3D uses active GPU acceleration... -

the new 11.0.1 update I think fixed the majority of the lag but its still slower when working with large files than CS3 was I think.

64bit or 32bit? 64bit should run much faster than 32bit due to the non-need to go to the swapfile all the time.

You got two HDD's on your W90 right?
Make sure you set the scratch disk to your non OS drive, that always helps speed it up.
Apart from that you could increase the maximum ram allowance :\ -

I also need to set windows to open .pds files with the 64bit version rather than 32bit. -

Following along with this thread, any suggestions in what to look for as to why Photoshop x64 would be crashing Vista x64? Im running a Gateway 7811FX with almost stock configuration (HDD, undervolted). Undervolting hasn't caused anything else to crash so I'm pretty sure I have it at a stable setting and the x32 version works just fine.

2) mouse to "open with" then (click on choose default program) takes you to next page
3) click the check box "always choose the selected program to open this kind of file' then click on browse button at bottom of page.(the open with page)
4) browse to c:\program files\adobe\adobe photoshop CS4 (64bit)
4) click on photoshop.exe then open
5) you have not only opened that .psd file in 64bit PS, but subsequent files should open in 64bit PS.
BE ADVISED!!! Do not browse to
c:\program files (x86)\Adobe....... as that is the folder where the 32bit photoshop program resides.
Also, there are no ex marines. Once one, always one. -

Already had set it to my default, I just did it though the extensions type assign and yes thare is no such thing as an X Marine but for the sake of a user name its hard to to ViciousFormerMarine and its not as catchy

It would be a good idea for the brushes & things to be shared IMO. -
